Getting rid Acne and pimples

Acne....the word that every person hates. We all want to have acne-free skin but it's so hard. Today i am going to share some tips and tricks to get rid of acne.

There are many ways of reducing acne, some are natural whilst others are chemical based. Chemical based ones are said to be more effective and you notice the difference almost immediately but using chemicals the wrong way can exacerbate your conditions. For me, natural is the best way especially for sensitive skins.

So today i will discuss natural remedies. Here goes..

What causes acne?
Acne is caused when your hair follicles in the skin become blocked. They can be blocked by excess sebum, dirt or by using comedogenic ingredients such as coconut oil (classified as moderately comedogenic) regularly.

How to cure acne?
There are 2 ways that you get rid of your acne and help your skin heal. Both of these ways together will work wonders.

1)Diet
Yes, it's that word but seriously. Your diet is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Your diet decides how happy you feel, how healthy your skin is an even your physique.

CUT OUT SUGAR
Sugar is that one ingredient nearly all of us love and it is good for you if you eat in moderately. As you eat carbohydrates, and especially sugar, your blood sugar levels increase. The pancreas (leaf like organ in your body) responds by releasing insulin, a hormone that takes sugar into cells and reduces blood sugar levels.

Sugar also promotes inflammation.Inflammation is another critical factor in acne. High level of inflammation depletes antioxidants and leaves the skin vulnerable to inflammation, making it more likely that you get acne. Increase in inflammation is the reason food allergies, gut problems, and some foods aggravate acne.

Sugar is bad for inflammation. Extremely bad.....so CUT it out!

Candida is a third way sugar wreaks havoc on your face. Candida is yeast that lives in the skin and the digestive track. Normally it’s harmless and the immune system keeps it in check. But under certain conditions (such as excessive sugar intake or frequent use of antibiotics) it can grow out of control.

When this happens in the digestive track it can cause gut problems and indirectly contribute to acne, see how gut problems are linked to acne. Candida overgrowth in the skin causes inflammation in the skin that can lead to acne. Read more about how Candida causes acne here.

INTAKE MORE ANTIOXIDANTS

Antioxidants are vital for a healthy body and mind. Antioxidants donate free electrons to free radicals in the body. Free radicals are very greedy and need electrons so they basically go around your body trying to find anything that has electrons and snatch electrons from it....basically destroying your body.

We all love tea....i know i do! So let's not quit what we love....just substitute it with Green Tea. Green tea is high in antioxidants and is also very low in calories (for those of you who are probably trying to fulfil your new years resolution of being healthy).

Other foods high in antioxidants include:Berries (any type whether it be strawberry, blueberry, raspberry), Prunes,Oranges,Grapes, Cherries.......

2)Natural remedies and face packs

Oils
Several oils good for acne prone skin include:
> Green tea oil- excellent in getting rid of those spots
> Grape seed- contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, both of which are great for stopping acne. The oil also contains linoleic acid, which is great for good skin health.
> Rosehip oil- This antioxidant is excellent for helping to fade pigmentation and scarring. However, rosehip oil is comedogenic so should only be used on alternating days to avoid triggering breakouts.

Natural masks

>Honey- Apply a teaspoon of honey to affected areas, or make a mask by mixing 1/2 cup of honey with 1 cup of plain oatmeal and leaving it on for 30 minutes. Then slowly and gently srub your face and wash off. This acts as to exfoliate, calm and soothe your skin.

>Aspirin tablets- The salicylic acid in aspirin is amazing for acne treatments, and the aspirin can dry up pimples and reduce inflammation. Form a paste by mashing aspirin in little water. You can also try buying salicylic acid face wash from here. I love this face wash and it is also very effective.

>Chamomile- Chamomile helps decrease inflammation from acne. In a blender or coffee grinder, combine the contents of a chamomile tea bag with enough water to form a paste, and apply that to acne. Alternately, steep two chamomile tea bags with 1 cup boiled water for 15 minutes. Let the tea cool, then use a cotton ball to dab it on your face after cleansing.

>Witch Hazel- Witch hazel can act as an astringent, naturally drying and shrinking blemishes. To get its benefits, pour witch hazel onto a cotton ball and wipe your face each morning and night.

>Lemons- These are my most favourite ingredient of all time. Lemons act as an exfoliant, skin lightener, and disinfectant to reduce the appearance of scars and prevent new pimples from forming. On a clean face, dab acne with a cotton ball or cotton swab dipped in lemon juice, then rinse with cool water.

>Acidic fruits- E.g citrus fruit juice can flush pores. Just dab a little onto a cotton ball to help battle acne; gently swipe the cotton on the affected areas.
